VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Exton Little League is run exclusively by volunteers and can only exist because of the dedication and selflessness of it's volunteers. Coaches, managers, board members, snack shackers and other volunteers all work together to help create the best experience for our kids. Like any volunteer-run organization, we’re always looking for dedicated individuals to assist - a few of the ways to support the league include:
1. Join the Board of Directors (open roles listed below)
Vice President of Baseball - manages day-to-day operations of baseball activities including scheduling, annual tryout process and coordinates with other board roles to ensure successful season.
Secretary - records minutes of meetings, is responsible for sending our notice of meetings and generally supports league admin activities.
Marketing/Public Relations - oversees new player recruitment efforts, develops and maintains a league marketing plan, coordinates efforts to make the league more visible in the community year round and manages our social media sites.
Concessions Manager - maintains the concession facilities, organizes the purchase of products, solicits volunteers and keeps records of sales and purchases.
2. Coach a Team
Coaches and assistant coaches are the life-blood of our league. It's a great opportunity to engage directly with the players and help foster an environment to learn and develop as players and people. You can indicate that you are interested when registering your child.
3. Fill a concession shift
Each season, the concession manager will organize the needed shifts based on each leagues schedule. Each shift is typically 2.5 hours and starts 15 minutes before the scheduled game.
HOW TO VOLUNTEER
If you are looking to register as a volunteer for the current season please click the Registration Link below which include uploading the three (3) PA Background Check forms if you are new to ELL or have not provided this in the past five (5) years.
Upon completion of this registration, you will receive a separate email to complete the required Little League Volunteer Form through a secure online system with JDP, a third party company that has partnered with Little League. JDP will also perform a separate national background check as required by Little League. ELL has moved away from completing the PDF forms by hand or through our own registration process by using JDP's secure and independent website.
PA STATE BACKGROUND CHECKS
Exton Little League must follow PA Act 153 of 2014, which was amended on July 1, 2015 by PA Act 15 of 2015, and requires very specific background checks for volunteers of youth serving organizations in the State of Pennsylvania.
All volunteers for Exton Little League are required to complete and provide to the League the following background checks to volunteer in any capacity:
1. Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP). This clearance can be obtained at https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp and is free.
2. Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse). This clearance can be obtained at https://www.compass.state.pa.us/CWIS and is free.
3. If you have lived outside of Pennsylvania within the the last ten (10) years, a fingerprint based FBI criminal history clearance is required.
This can be obtained thru IDEMIA (IdentoGO), Pennsylvania's new partner in obtaining this clearance at IdentoGo.com. This is a multi-step process and the cost thru IDEMIA is $22.60. If you have not lived outside Pennsylvania in the past ten (10) years, a signed and notarized affidavit of residency must be submitted. This form can be obtained at the following link and is free. These clearances are standard throughout PA and required for organizations like school volunteers, Scouting, and other youth groups. The clearances are transferrable so only copies need to be provided if you've gotten them for any other organization. The reports only display that the volunteer is allowed to work with youth. All background checks are valid for FIVE (5) years from the last date on the forms and must be renewed and submitted to the league within that time frame to remain eligible.
